DailySoft CR published the Commerce PlaceToPay Checkout module, an option for online payments in Costa Rica using Drupal CMS.
The idea started due to a need, in Costa Rica there are multiple checkout options for WordPress but on the other hand for Drupal e-commerces there are no payment gateways rather than Paypal which has considerable fees.
After studying the options available, the payment processor offered by Evertec called PlaceToPay results to be a great option, see more information here. They offer good security features, easy to integration via JSON API, and great support according to the experience we received.
The Commerce PlaceToPay Checkout module integrates the PlaceToPay payment gateway with Drupal 8/9 to be able to perform online payments as easy as using any VISA or Mastercard card and the Drupal developers have an option to build e-commerce sites with online payments and receiving funds directly to the Banco de Costa Rica. (Costa Rican local bank).
For the Costa Rica case, this process is handled by the Banco de Costa Rica (BCR), the interested must request the services, then a BCR representative will contact to sign contracts, once this part of the process is completed, the process continues with the Evertec team which will give the test and productions credentials. In order to have the green light to sell online, an Evertec technician must review and certify the website.
Configuring the module is really easy, the just about selecting the plugin and putting the credentials given by Evertec, see the below image.
It’s important to mention that the costs associated with this payment provider are really competitive and very affordable, they have a really low cost per transaction which help to use this on any type of project.
